(1962- ) US illustrator and author who first published artwork in Fandom venues, notably interior art as Todd Hamilton for the Worldcon publication Chicon IV Program Book (anth 1982) edited anonymously. He went on to create cover art for various titles including John Varley's Blue Champagne (coll 1986), which he also illustrated throughout; several issues of Analog 1987-1990; Roger Zelazny's Visual Guide to Castle Amber (1988) by Neil Randall and Roger Zelazny; Piers Anthony's Visual Guide to Xanth (2000) by Piers Anthony and Jody Lynn Nye; and The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time (2021) by Robert Jordan and Teresa Patterson. A contribution to The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern (1989) by Anne McCaffrey and Jody Lynn Nye won him a Chesley Award for best interior art. As suggested by most of the titles above, this artist inclines towards Fantasy and Science Fantasy rather than Hard SF.
Hamilton's one book-length venture into genre fiction is the Space Opera The Guardsman (1988) with P J Beese (whom see for more); he has also published short fiction in collaboration with Beese. [DRL]
