(? - ) US author who began to publish work of genre interest with "The Coming of the Eye" in The Burning Eye (anth 1988) edited by Jerry Pournelle, the opening volume in the CoDominium: War World Military SF Original Anthology sequence set in the Shared World of Pournelle's CoDominium universe. Hawthorne's book-length work, beginning with War World: The Battle of Sauron (2007) with John F Carr, uses the same setting, to which he has contributed further short fiction. Also with Carr he co-edited the related anthology War World: The Lidless Eye (anth 2013). [DRL]
