Entry updated 2 March 2026. Tagged: Author.

(1971-    ) US author who began to publish work of genre interest with the historical Fantasy novel The Iron Thane (1993), opening the two-book Iron Thane / The Macduff Saga sequence. Of greater sf interest are two Ties to the Marvel Comics universe: The Incredible Hulk: Abominations (1997) solo, and the crossover X-Men & Spider-Man: Time's Arrow: The Past (1998) with Tom DeFalco (see also X-Men).

The Young Adult Alex Van Helsing trilogy opening with Vampire Rising (2010) centres on the Vampire-hunting activities of a supposed descendant of Van Helsing from Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897; rev with cuts 1901). There are similar connections to a past work in the Children's SF Young Captain Nemo trio which begins with Young Captain Nemo (2019), whose protagonist Gabriel Nemo is a modern descendant of the famed Antihero in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870 2vols; trans 1872) by Jules Verne. Though a mere twelve years old, Gabriel already commands his own "Nemotech" submarine The Obscure and with his friends plus the help of various useful Inventions has energetic adventures Under the Sea, including in the second volume a search for the old Nautilus itself.
