(1924-1979) UK scriptwriter for Television and author whose first scripts were for early series like the lost Target: Luna (1960) and its Pathfinders in Space sequels (see Pathfinders Series), but who is best known for his extensive involvement in the Doctor Who universe, writing several series between 1967 and 1974. For most of these he also produced Tie novelizations, which were noted for their relative richness of content; these began with Doctor Who and the Cave-Monsters (1974). His nonfiction The Making of Doctor Who (1972; rev 1976) with Terrance Dicks was a very useful early report on Doctor Who. [JC]
