(1957- ) Norwegian Comics writer, scriptwriter, playwright and novelist. His first published story of genre interest was "Fortellingen om Den" ["The Tale of It"] in Algernon #21 (1981), expanded to book length as Fortellingen om Den (1981), an engaging children's story about a being only known as Den ["It"]. He has collaborated on several comics, written scripts for Cinema, Radio and Television, and has published five novels to date. He scripted three Graphic Novels in the series Solruns saga, illustrated by Bjørn Ousland: Pesta ["Pesta"] (1988), Nattlys ["Night Light"] (1990) and Sjøormen ["The Sea Serpent"] (1993). The tale takes place in the 1300s and deals with dramatic events during the Black Death Pandemic, mixing historical facts with fantastic and supernatural elements.
42 years after Fortellingen om Den, Ildahl returned to the sf field with the Cairus tetralogy originally written as a film script, comprising the novels Ainano ["Ainano"] (2023), Liriel ["Liriel"] (2023), Undiva ["Undiva"] (2025) and XHT ["XHT"] (2025). Each part is an independent story set in the same fictious universe. [CPe]
