(1948-    ) US bibliographer whose main work, undertaken with Jerry Boyajian, was a series of indexes to the SF Magazines: Index to the Science Fiction Magazines 1977 (1982 chap), 1978 (1982 chap), 1979 (1981 chap), 1980 (1981 chap), 1981 (1982 chap), 1982 (1983 chap) and 1984 (1985 chap). Both authors also began an associated enterprise comprising Index to the Semi-Professional Fantasy Magazines, 1982 (1983 chap) and Index to the Semi-Professional Magazines, 1983 (1984 chap). All these indexes were published by the two authors in partnership as TWACI Press, being an acronym for "Two Wild And Crazy Indexers".

With Hal W Hall and George Michaels, Johnson also compiled The Science Fiction Magazines: A Bibliographical Checklist of Titles and Issues through 1982 (1983 chap). His article "Science Fiction Pornography" (July 1977 The Science Fiction Collector #4) was later expanded into a useful online resource dealing with this specialist area [see links below]. More recent online bibliographies include "Fantasy Gothics", listing modern Gothic novels which contain actual elements of Fantastika [again see links below], and "Futuristic Romances: An Annotated Bibliography of the Futuristic Romances Published by Leisure Books and Love Spell", whose subtitle specifies its considerable usefulness as a specialist guide [again see links below].

Johnson is not to be confused with the US novelist and Television worker Kenneth Johnson or the UK horror writer Kenneth R Johnson. [JC/DRL]
