(? - ) US author, active from the 1990s, whose Alternate World Splinter Effect sequence, beginning with Splinter Effect (2025), focuses on explorations in chrono-archaeology funded by the Smithsonian. Its protagonist Rabbit Ward's primary task is to search, via institutionalized Time Travel, for artefacts at risk. In the first volume of the series, the now-lost menorah of the Second Temple attracts the attention not only of Ward but of some claim-jumper time-travellers. Hints of a Changewar may take firm root in subsequent volumes, with an emphasis on the grave consequences of any successful attempt to change history. The tale continues in Double Shadow (2026), as his sparring partner Helen becomes more involved in dark matters deep in time. [JC]
