Mad 3 Party, The
Entry updated 27 January 2025. Tagged: Fan, Publication.
US Fanzine variously edited by Laurie Mann, Pat Vandenberg and (from 1986) Leslie Turek. Published 1984-1990; 38 issues, US quarto paper, stapled.
This lively newsletter was closely associated with the 1989 Boston Worldcon bid, and then with preparations for the resulting Convention, known as Noreascon 3 (the third Worldcon in Boston). The bid took its theme from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865), and hence the fanzine title's echo of the Mad Tea Party. As a consequence of its origin and purpose it included much discussion of related matters, such as Worldcon and Hugo statistics and the financing of Worldcon bids. The Mad 3 Party won the Hugo for best fanzine in 1990. [DRL]
