Mad 3 Party, The
Entry updated 10 August 2026. Tagged: Fan, Publication.
US Fanzine variously edited by Laurie Mann, Pat Vandenberg and (from 1986) Leslie Turek. Published 1984-1990; 38 issues, US quarto paper, stapled.
This lively newsletter was closely associated with the 1989 Boston Worldcon bid, and then with preparations for the resulting Convention, known as Noreascon 3 (the third Worldcon to be held in Boston). The bid took its theme from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865), and hence the fanzine title's echo of the Mad Tea Party. As a consequence of its origin and purpose it included much discussion of related matters, such as Worldcon and Hugo statistics and the financing of Worldcon bids. The Mad 3 Party won the Hugo for best fanzine in 1990. [DRL]
