(1957- ) US Videogame designer (see Game Design), involved in various aspects of computer gaming from the early 1980s. He co-designed The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1984) with Douglas Adams. Solo titles include the Space Opera-flavoured Planetfall (1983) and its sequel; A Mind Forever Voyaging (1985); the enjoyably risqué Leather Goddesses of Phobos (1986) and its sequel; and the first Infocomics game, Lane Mastodon vs The Blubbermen (1988). Under the working name S Eric Meretzky he wrote a series of fantasy Gamebooks beginning with Zork: The Forces of Krill (1983) – Interactive Fiction based on the early computer Adventure game Zork (1977-1979), whose final sequel Zork Zero: The Revenge of Megaboz (1988) Meretzky also designed.
