(1949-2014) UK author, principally for Comics, who was associated with 2000 AD from its earliest days and wrote many of this magazine's Tharg's Future Shocks one-off tales (including the department's first contribution) from 1977 to 2005; he also wrote the Doctor Who strip for Doctor Who Weekly (later Doctor Who Monthly) 1979-1981 and was involved in the creation of the UK anthology comic Warrior (1982-1985), for which he scripted several sf and fantasy serials. He was a contributing editor of Fortean Times and its academic sister journal Fortean Studies (see Charles Fort). His first work at novel length was V for Vendetta (2006), a Tie to the 2006 film version of the Graphic Novel V for Vendetta (March 1982-February 1985 Warrior; exp graph 1990) by his long-time friend Alan Moore (who is no relation) and David Lloyd. Somnium: A Fantastic Romance (2011) is Fantasy; several shorter fantasies and essays appeared as booklets from his Small Press, Somnium Press.
