His competent but routine solo adventure Fantasies fall into several series. The Japanese-mythology-tinged Alban Saga began with his debut novel The Horse Lord (1983), followed by The Demon Lord (1984), The Dragon Lord (1986) and The Warlord's Domain (1989). The pseudo-Russian historical Tales of Old Russia trilogy comprises Prince Ivan (1990), Firebird (1992) and The Golden Horde (1993). The Clan Wars series reverts to the setting of the first sequence some five centuries on: Greylady (1993) and Widowmaker (1994). Keeper of the City (1989), with Duane, is a contribution to the Guardians of the Three Shared-World fantasy series.

Morwood's novels of direct sf interest include media Ties, his only solo title in this arena being the Star Trek (original series) novel Rules of Engagement (1990). Others were co-written with his wife, including Star Trek #35: The Romulan Way (1987; vt Star Trek: Rihannsu: Book 2: The Romulan Way 2000) with Diane Duane, in the Star Trek: Rihannsu sequence. Their most substantial joint project was the non-tied Space Cops trio of Space Opera thrillers with a Crime and Punishment theme, comprising Space Cops: Mindblast (1991), Space Cops: Kill Station (1992) and Space Cops: High Moon (1992), all with Diane Duane. seaQuest DSV: The Novel (1993; vt seaQuest DSV 1993) with Diane Duane is based on the pilot for the Television series seaQuest DSV (1993-1996).
