(1944- ) US journalist and author, married to Bill Pronzini; best known for thriller and detective novels including the long Sharon McCone sequence starring the eponymous female private eye. She began to publish work of sf/fantasy interest with "Dust to Dust" in Specter!: A Chrestomathy of "Spookery" (anth 1982) edited by Pronzini, and co-edited a number of Anthologies with him, including Witches' Brew: Horror and Supernatural Stories by Women (anth 1984) and the circus-themed The Wickedest Show on Earth (anth 1985). The mystery novel Beyond the Grave (1986) with Pronzini plays with or hints at a Timeslip theme as two investigators in California – one in 1894, one in 1986 – work to solve the same crime. Muller received the Mystery Writers of America Grand Master award in 2005. [DRL]
