(? - ) US author and game designer who began to publish fiction of genre interest with "Masquerade" in The Beast Within (anth 1994) edited by Stewart Wieck. His first book-length tales appeared in 2002: The World Below (2002), novelizing the first volume of the Comics series Fathom (1998-current) created by Michael Turner, which centres on one female member of a race of aquatic humanoids Under the Sea and her interactions with the world above; and Drum into Silence (2002) with Jo Clayton, third volume in the Drums of Chaos Fantasy trilogy whose first two books were by Clayton solo. Murphy has made several contributions to George R R Martin's Wild Cards Shared World of Superheroes, beginning in 1993; a Graphic Novel in that setting is George R. R. Martin Presents Wild Cards: Ante Up: A Graphic Novel (2025) with John J Miller. [DRL]
