(1916-1996) UK author and bibliographer who began to publish work of genre interest with the short story "Ape" in New Worlds for Summer 1951, in collaboration with J T McIntosh under the joint pseudonym Gregory Francis. Five more tales with the same byline and collaborators appeared, the last in 1971. Monthly Terrors: An Index to the Weird Fantasy Magazines Published in the United States and Great Britain (1985), compiled with Mike Ashley, was a pioneering (in its particular territory) work of sf Bibliography which laid the foundations for much future work.
