(1954-    ) US author and editor long associated with the Cthulhu Mythos. He edited the magazine Crypt of Cthulhu from 1981 to 2022 and began to publish his own Mythos fiction with "The Derleth Horror" in Crypt of Cthulhu #6 dated St John's Eve 1982. He was also editor of many Mythos-related Anthologies beginning with Tales of the Lovecraft Mythos (anth 1992); most of these, beginning with The Hastur Cycle (anth 1993), were compiled for the games company Chaosium, publishers of Call of Cthulhu (which see). He has also edited various Retro-Pulp (which also see) magazines including Astro Adventures (8 issues January 1987-June 1989) and the 2003 revival of Strange Tales. His first story collection was the very substantial Blasphemies & Revelations (coll 2008).

Price's four nonfiction titles from Starmont House comprise two collections of his own essays from Crypt of Cthulhu [see Checklist below], plus studies of H P Lovecraft and Lin Carter: H.P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos (1990) and Lin Carter: A Look Behind His Imaginary Worlds (1991). The much later The Paperback Apocalypse: How the Christian Church Was Left Behind (2007) is a sceptical examination of the shaky scriptural underpinnings of apocalyptic fiction dealing with the "Rapture", in particular the Left Behind sequence by Tim LaHaye (whom see) and Jerry B Jenkins.
