(1981- ) Canadian author whose novels to date, beginning with I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2016) are horror, though Fog (2018) strongly evokes Horror in SF through its frame narrative: in the Near Future, a married couple is subjected to increasingly horrific seemingly chthonic emanations after the husband is informed that he may become an astronaut in a mysterious programme, but that his wife will not be left alone. There is a sense that the future will be more than they can bear. [JC]
