Ridgway, Keith

Entry updated 24 August 2026. Tagged: Author.

(1965-    ) Irish author resident most recently in London, active since 1997 or earlier. His earlier work, often exploring Gender issues, is nonfantastic. He is of sf interest for the Equipoisal Dooneen (2026), whose protagonist Teleports from a mundane London back to an Alternate-World version of his home Dublin, where Transportation has been revolutionized, and private vehicles have disappeared utterly, at the cost of submission to a surveillance-obsessed Dystopian government. The populace revolts; the protagonist is swallowed into an Underground urban nightmare. The style of the telling is surreal, oneiric. As a nostos, or tale of homecoming, it treats any resting point as problematic. [JC]
