(? - ) Swedish-Canadian microbiologist and author, whose place of birth has not been revealed; they began publishing work of genre interest with "Light Bringers" in Northern Nights (anth 2024) edited by Michael Kelly. The protagonist of their first novel, No One to Hold the Distant Dead (2026 chap), travels to a poorly Terraformed planet in the grips of Ecological degradation, in order to add her professional assistance; but her trip, via a combination of Matter Transmission and Cloning, has fragmented her Memory. Her attempts to salvage bits of the culture she has come to aid, and to reassemble her own tampered-with mind, meld into a single complex search.
K L Schroeder should not be confused with Canadian author Karl Schroeder. [JC]
