(? - ) US artist of considerable range, whose work covers classic fine-arts territory such as nudes as well as depictions of futuristic hardware and sf, Fantasy and Horror figures; he sometimes signs work as David Seeley. He began to publish interior art of fantasy interest in the 1995 World Fantasy Convention souvenir book, and has been active in the production of genre book covers since 2000, with a jacket painting for Ramsey Campbell's Silent Children (2000) as David Seeley. Later work includes many covers for Star Wars Ties published by Del Rey Books, very many volumes in the Deathlands sequence by James Axler for Gold Eagle Books, and several for Poul Anderson's Technic Civilization Saga at Baen Books. He has also created covers for such Tor Books authors as Lois McMaster Bujold and L E Modesitt Jr; for the Baen authors Brendan DuBois, Charles E Gannon, Wil McCarthy, David Weber, Timothy Zahn and others; and other publishers' authors including Rachel Caine and Martin Sketchley.
Seeley's collection The Art of Dave Seeley (graph 2015) includes essays on various aspects of his career, with a substantial section devoted to his Star Wars images. [DRL]
