(1977- ) Canadian artist, largely working in video art and installations, several of which use sf tropes to investigate states of heightened awareness and Transcendence. This Transition Will Never End (2008-ongoing) is a compilation of wormhole sequences from Cinema and Television, to create a single, potentially endless trip. Subsequent works have been presented as ethnological documentaries sent from the future, using Found Footage and analogue video. The Quantification Trilogy, comprising Quickeners (2014), Liminals (2017) and I Can See Forever (2018) is based on the scientific quantification of spiritual experience (see Metaphysics), effectively disproving God, and the attempts of some inhabitants to rediscover transcendental rituals. The seven-channel video work Phase Shifting Index (2020) comprises reports on alternative societies in the twenty-second century, all of whom are similarly seeking the inexplicable. [CWa]
