(? - ) US editor who first worked as an editorial assistant and later editor in the sf department of Berkley Publishing Group, where with Victoria Schochet she co-edited the fifth and final volume of the Original Anthology The Berkley Showcase: The Berkley Showcase: New Writings in Science Fiction and Fantasy, Vol. 5 (anth 1982). In the mid-1980s Singer moved to Tor Books, running the Horror line as a senior editor and editing various forms of genre fiction (plus administrative work) until laid off in 2022. Initially under her full name Melissa Ann Singer, she edited three issues of Tor's Tor.com Online Magazine in 2010 and another in 2012 (this publication has since been rebranded as Reactor). She currently works as a freelance editor. [DRL]
