(1926-2025) UK screenwriter and actor, later working in the circulation department of The Sunday Times and becoming a wholesale distributor of the UK Sunday newspapers. He is best remembered in sf for his early 1970s work on Doctor Who (1963-current), for which he wrote four serial stories in collaboration with the show's producer Barry Letts, all starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor: Doctor Who: The Dæmons (5 episodes 22 May-19 June 1971) with script credit to "Guy Leopold", The Time Monster (6 episodes 20 May-24 June 1972), The Green Death (6 episodes 19 May-23 June 1973) and Planet of the Spiders (6 episodes 4 May-8 June 1974). The Dæmons was held in particularly high regard and its scripts were released in book form as Doctor Who: The Scripts: The Daemons (1992) with Letts. Sloman also contributed to the Videogame Doctor Who: Destiny of the Doctors (1997). [DRL]
