(1956-    ) US editor and author whose sf novel, Sisters of Glass (1999), set in Near Future Los Angeles (see California), explores Genetic Engineering through a thriller plot. The protagonist of the tale, a Telepath ex-cop, is tasked to track down a genetically engineered woman who is essentially owned, because of the patented processes that have generated her, by a secret corporation known as Genesistem. He goes on the run with her through a Paranoia-inducing world: the universal satellite communication units embedded in almost everyone's body are in fact control devices; Immortality is reserved for the rich via enforced Identity Transfer with underprivileged victims; what government survives is feeble, corrupt, and run for the benefit of the privileged.
