Stacy, Jan

Entry updated 12 September 2022. Tagged: Author.

(1948-1989) US author of Military SF novels, including the first four volumes of the Doomsday Warrior sequence in collaboration with Ryder Syvertsen under the joint pseudonym Ryder Stacy; Syvertsen continued the series solo (see his entry for titles). Their only non-series collaboration appeared under their real names: The Great Book of Movie Monsters (1983). Writing as John Sievert, they began the C.A.D.S. sequence with C.A.D.S. (1985), carried on separately by Syvertsen and David Alexander, continuing to write as John Sievert, which had now become a House Name. As by Craig Sargent, Stacy wrote the Last Ranger sequence of military-sf novels set (like the Doomsday Warrior books) in a disease-ridden Post-Holocaust Los Angeles (see California), beginning with The Last Ranger (1986) and ending with The Last Ranger #10: Is This the End? (1989): it was, Stacy himself dying young in the AIDs Pandemic. [JC]
