US Online Magazine published since March 2018, edited from the San Francisco area by Stephen Beale, a semi-retired professional journalist.
Produced in the style of an online magazine or newspaper (see Newszines), The Steampunk Explorer covers news about Steampunk Fandom, media, and related topics with an emphasis on activities in English-speaking countries – primarily the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. Coverage includes Conventions, festivals, books, Comics, costumes/fashion, art (see Illustration), music (see SF Music), and crowdfunding campaigns.
In addition to news stories, the website has event listings that encompass steampunk gatherings as well as comics, Anime and sf/fantasy conventions, Renaissance festivals, and other events that may draw interest from steampunk enthusiasts.
Ancillary projects include Steampunk Digest, a weekly e-newsletter with news summaries, and The World of Steampunk, a video series hosted on YouTube and Vimeo. [SBe]
