An occasionally used item of sf Terminology, describing travel at less than the speed of light – that is, constrained by the usual laws of Relativity, as distinct from the greater narrative convenience of Faster Than Light or FTL transit. The term seems to have been first used by Poul Anderson in "A Sun Invisible" (April 1966 Analog). [DRL]
