(1880-1936) US author, active from 1898; of some sf interest is her first novel, In the Dwellings of the Wilderness (1904), in which the Reincarnated spirit of a woman buried alive in Ancient Egypt becomes a She figure who may well be a Vampire. Nicanor Teller of Tales: A Story of Roman Britain (1906), comes close to the fantastic in recounting the life of Nicanor, a peasant in occupied Britain who becomes a seer-like teller of tales. [JC]
