(1972- ) Norwegian-born author, in Denmark from the age of seven, active from around 2000; she is of sf interest for the Equipoisal Percent sequence beginning with 11% (2022; trans Caroline Waight as Eleven Percent 2025), which is set several centuries into a Utopian or Dystopian distant Near Future. Men are artificially restricted to 11% of the population, to ensure genetically sound breeding, and are heavily drugged (see Drugs). The world beyond their doped remit is organ-shaped, down to the architecture; many women are genuine witches; various protagonists of the tale bear emblematic names, like Wicca or Eva or Medea. As a speculative exercise, 11% is frequently barbed; as a narrative, moments of thinness pervade. 88% (2024), not translated into English, intensifies the narrative element. [JC]
