(1972- ) French journalist, editor and author whose Machines sequence beginning with Exemplaire de Démonstration: roman (2002; trans Jane Metter as ScriptGenerator: Machines 1 2004) is a Satire on the contemporary Media Landscape set into a very Near Future, where the enormously sophisticated Computer-programmed ScriptGenerator has taken over the writer's function. In language whose loaded seeming blankness of affect reflects the work of J G Ballard, he displays a world in which Homo sapiens seems all too eager to surrender autonomy. [JC]
