Wetzel, George T

(1921-1983) US fan, author and critic, active in Fandom in the 1940s and 1950s, who began to publish weird fiction with "A Tale of the Older Gods" in The Fanscient for Spring 1949; later stories appeared in such Amateur Magazines as Destiny and Weirdbook. He wrote several critical and bibliographical works on H P Lovecraft, beginning with Commentaries (1955 chap) as G Wetzel, and became known as a Lovecraft scholar; much of his critical work was eventually assembled as Collected Essays on H.P. Lovecraft and Others (coll 2015 ebook). Among other uncollected writings he published five instalments of a planned Edward Lucas White biography as "Edward Lucas White: Notes for a Biography" (Winter 1979/1980-Winter 1984 Fantasy Commentator), but died before completing the project.
