Entry updated 13 March 2023. Tagged: Author.

(?   -    ) Canadian translator and author, in Japan from early adulthood, who is of sf interest for the Jubilee Cycle sequence beginning with Car Crash Jubilee (2015 ebook), set in a Dystopian Cyberpunk-inflected Near Future Tokyo, where the harvesting of individual transactions with the world (see Media Landscape) has become not only universal but licensed. Implanted Computers assess charges that are imposed for all human activities. The protagonist, who has run foul of a mysterious and enormously expensive operation known as Jubilee, finds himself charged for insanely costly behaviours he did not commit and banished to a Zone whose inhabitants have been stripped of all electronic access. His escape from this Prison is complicated, involves a kaleidoscopic array of friends and enemies, and is never more than partial: for he must deal with the immense power of a privatized body politic.
