Williams, Carol Lynch

Entry updated 12 September 2022. Tagged: Author.

(1959-    ) US author of some interest for the Just in Time series of very Young Adult Time Travel tales beginning with The Rescue Begins in Delaware (2013), all with Cheri Pray Earl; the two child protagonists travel back and forth in a Time Machine coveted by a Villain, and meet various historical figures, including Thomas Alva Edison. Their adventures are titivated by the fact that one or another of them changes into an animal each time the machine is used. Of Williams's singletons, most of them being nonfantastic young adult tales with romance plots, The Haven (2014) is a Near Future tale, in which the eponymous Keep seems to shelter (but may have imprisoned) a cadre of children known as Terminals, who have grown into teenagers there. It may be they have been bred for their organs; the world outside may or may not be a classic Dystopia. The Messenger (2016) is a supernatural fiction whose young protagonists speaks with the dead.
