(? - ) US librarian and sf scholar who began to publish work of genre interest with a report on the 1987 International Conference on the Fantastic in Locus for May 1987. He has edited three relevant anthologies. Visions of Wonder: The Science Fiction Research Association Anthology (New York: Tor, 1996) with David G Hartwell reprints selected sf/fantasy stories and essays as an sf sampler approved by Science Fiction Research Association for use by teachers. The title of Imaginative Futures: Proceedings of the 1993 Science Fiction Research Association Conference: June 17-19, 1993, Reno, Nevada (anth 1995) with Daryl F Mallett is self-explanatory. Shaw and Science Fiction (anth 1997), a special sf issue of The Annual of Bernard Shaw Studies, comprises essays on George Bernard Shaw: contributors include Ray Bradbury, Tom Shippey, and Shaw himself on Utopias.
