(1964- ) US author and screenwriter who scripted an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994) in 1992 and went on to write many episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1999), of which he was also producer. A relevant novel Tie is Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Legends of the Ferengi (1997) with Ira Stephen Behr. Working from notes by Gene Roddenberry, he was the creator and chief writer of Andromeda (2000-2005; vt Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda US). His later fiction, the Billy Smith and the Goblins trilogy opening with The Goblin Crown (2016), is Young Adult fantasy. [DRL]
