(? - ) US writer of speculative fiction, Comics, Poetry, and Games. They began to publish works of genre interest with "The Fisher Queen" in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction for May 2014. Their short story, "Hungry Daughters of Starving Mothers" (October 2015 Nightmare), won the 2016 Nebula and World Fantasy Award. They subsequently won the 2017 Locus Award for Best Novelette with "You'll Surely Drown Here If You Stay" (May/June 2016 Uncanny). Other works have appeared in Black Static (see The Third Alternative), Lightspeed, and Strange Horizons. Their writing is notable for its visceral focus on the body. They identify as non-binary and have voiced support for a greater range of diversity among writers of speculative fiction.
Wong has also written for Marvel Comics "Star Wars: Doctor Aphra" series that began in 2020 and for the 2022 Deadpool series. Their debut novel, The High Republic: Escape from Valo (2024) with Daniel José Older, is set in the Star Wars universe. [JM]
