(?   -    ) US author, editor and critic who began to publish essays of genre interest with "The Rise and Fall (and Rise) of Firefly" in Finding Serenity: Anti-Heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly (anth 2004) edited by Jane Espenson, which as the title indicates deals with Firefly (2002). Yeffeth has since edited a number of similar symposium anthologies devoted to various franchises, beginning with the Matrix (1999) study Taking the Red Pill: Science, Philosophy and Religion in The Matrix (anth 2003). Later volumes of particular sf interest include The Anthology at the End of the Universe: Leading Science Fiction Authors on Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (anth 2005), covering the famous creation of Douglas Adams; Navigating the Golden Compass: Religion, Science and Daemonology in His Dark Materials (anth 2005) on the work of Philip Pullman; The Man from Krypton: A Closer Look at Superman (anth 2006), on Superman; and Star Wars on Trial (anth 2006; exp 2015) edited with David Brin and Matthew Woodring Stover, which subjects the Star Wars franchise to mock-legal scrutiny on various charges such as "The Plot Holes and Logical Gaps in Star Wars Make It Ill-Suited for an Intelligent Reader". Brin prosecutes, Stover defends, and Yeffeth contributes to the resulting "courtroom" discussions (and also has a standalone essay) as by Droid Judge. [DRL]
