Mammay, Michael

(?   -    ) US army officer (now retired) and author who has specialized in Military SF, primarily the Planetside sequence beginning with Planetside (2016), where a retired army officer is asked to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a politician's son from a Space Station orbiting a planet ruined by War, though it continues to harbour Aliens. Action ensues. The sequels follow the extremely competent retiree into different roles on different worlds; in the first, a corrupt Wargame is killing executives, and in the second sequel, set on a colony planet (see Colonization of Other Worlds), missing persons, above-the-law corporations and lackadaisical governance provide and admixture. Mammay's second sequence, the Misfit series beginning with The Misfit Soldier (2022), features an ex-soldier whose life as a confidence trickster turns sour and, not entirely safe in his Mecha gear, he must recruit a team of agile toughs [for Seven Samurai see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below] to upset the applecart for gain.
