(1943- ) UK computer programmer, bibliographer and publisher, active in UK Fandom for many years. The Writings of Henry Kenneth Bulmer (1983 chap; rev 1984 chap) is an exhaustive Bibliography of one of the most prolific sf writers, and Who's Hugh?: An SF Reader's Guide to Pseudonyms (1987) is similarly exhaustive in its listing of Pseudonyms. Criticized at first for its failure to annotate its findings – so that, for instance, pseudonyms used for sf could not be distinguished from others – it has shown itself accurate and comprehensive. By sourcing each attribution, so that readers can weigh the reliability of the ascriptions, it aspires to a greater methodological sophistication than is often found in sf scholarship. Robinson founded Beccon Publications, which he continues to run, in 1981; this Small Press has published Filk song collections and significant critical collections by John Clute, Paul Kincaid and Gary K Wolfe. Robinson is the Research Editor for this encyclopedia, compiling much basic data used for the third edition's author Checklists (as below). [JC/DRL]
