(1967- ) US editor, anthologist, journalist and author who began to publish fiction of sf interest with "Crowd Control" for Strange Pleasures 2 (anth 2003) edited by John Grant and Dave Hutchinson, though he is best-known as a prolific author of articles on media sf in various journals; The Making of Star Trek: First Contact (1996) is a useful making-the-movie book about the eighth Star Trek feature film, Star Trek: First Contact (1996). His anthologies include Outside the Box: The Best Short Fiction from Bookface.com (anth 2001); Live Without a Net (anth 2003), which assembles stories set in futures where the information revolution has not occurred and Cyberspace does not exist; Projections: Science Fiction in Literature & Film (anth 2004), which assembles new and older nonfiction pieces of considerable interest; and Futureshocks (anth 2006), comprising original stories. He was involved 1999-2001 in Bookface.com, an online publisher; from its inception in 2004 until 2014, he edited Pyr, the sf and fantasy imprint of Prometheus Books. [JC]
