(1968-    ) US author who began to publish work of genre interest with "Kitchen Spirits" in Stories We Tell After Midnight (anth 2019) edited by Rachel A Brune. In his first novel, The Deading (2024), the Near-Future world, caught in the coils of Ecological degradation, faces the chance that a new Pandemic may have been bred in the ocean; the inhabitants of a small town, once it is discovered that those killed are reborn as Zombie-like creatures, are confined to Baywood, a Zone which becomes a kind of laboratory to assess the plague, and an unwitting experiment in the nature of power in a confined space. His second novel, Ten Sleep (2026), is a contemporary Western whose cast, driving cattle through a deepening canyon, begins to encounter chthonic terrors and epiphanies, changing each ensorcelled human utterly [for Into the Woods see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below].
