(1893-1964) UK author, almost exclusively for boys (see Children's SF), whose first two works of sf interest for the Boys' Friend Library were A Temple of Thrills!: A Vivid, Long Complete Story of Desperate Peril and Adventure in India (1923 chap) as by Rupert Drake, which involves Rockets; and The Forest of Hidden Trails: A Thrilling Story of Peril & Adventure in the Wilds of South America (1927 chap) as by Rupert Drake, a Lost Race tale involving Incas up the Amazon. Under his own name, he wrote two further works of sf interest: When the World Crashed! (1935 chap), in which worldwide Disasters turn out to have been instigated by a Villain hoping to rule the world; and Piston Payne's Jungle Submotank (1936 chap), the Invention of the title being a submersible tank capable of traversing darkest Africa.
