Entry updated 29 May 2023. Tagged: Author.

Main pseudonym of unidentified teacher, blogger and author (1978-    ), who also writes as by Kim Bradford and Finley T Larkin. As Larkin, she began to publish work of genre interest with "Elf Aware" in The Cafe Irreal for August 2002, most of her subsequent fiction being fantasy. In 2020 she shared a special Locus Award with Nisi Shawl (whom see) and Cynthia Ward for the online writing classes and workshops still continuing as "Writing the Other" [see links] below. Her first novel, Ruby Finley vs the Interstellar Invasion (2022), which is designed for younger Young Adult readers, may be set in the near edge of the Near Future, though the First Contact tale at its heart only edges into an altered world when the Invasion of Earth is mooted. The insect-like Alien's discoverer, a young Black student who faces down issues involving race and sex (see Race in SF; Women in SF), solves the scientific and cultural issues posed in the narrative, and a new world may consequently open. Ruby Finley vs the Interstellar Invasion won the 2023 Andre Norton Nebula Award for Middle Grade and Young Adult Fiction. [JC]
