(1944-    ) New Zealand screen-writer and author, frequently of crime novels; included in his production of Young Adult titles are of two Young Adult series of sf interest: the Deepwater sequence, later televised, and beginning with Deepwater Black (1992); and the Solar Colonies sequence beginning with Doomfire on Venus (1993). His New Zealand television credits include scripts for Children of the Dog Star (1984, six episodes), about an Alien who is lost on earth and adopted by some human children, and "The Boy from Andromeda" (1991), which may be a remake of the previous title.
