(1953-2020) US author, editor and editorial consultant who published in Fanzines as early as 1977, was editor-in-chief of Omni from January 1991 to Winter 1995 while the fiction editor was Ellen Datlow, and was involved with the 1993 incarnation of Omni Online. With Orson Scott Card he edited Black Mist and Other Japanese Futures (anth 1997), comprising two novellas from Omni Online and three original stories. Ferrell began to publish his own fiction of genre interest with "A Reunion" for Asimov's Science Fiction's in December 2004.
His nonfiction titles include studies of H G Wells and George Orwell, respectively H.G. Wells: First Citizen of the Future (1983) and George Orwell: The Political Pen (1985). [DRL]
