Pseudonym of US lawyer and author Amy Vincent (1970-    ), much of whose work has been paranormal romances for Young Adult readers, like the Evernight sequence beginning with Evernight (2008), a set of tales involving Vampires at a boarding school, but who has also written sf for the same market. The young protagonist of the Firebird sequence beginning with A Thousand Pieces of You (2014) uses the series-overtitle eponym, her parents' Invention, to travel into various Dimensions, a traversal sufficiently ambitious to convey a sense that she has entered a genuine Multiverse. The Defy the Stars sequence beginning with Defy the Stars (2017) is a Space Opera whose young protagonist, defending her home planet Genesis against a tyrannical Earth, finds herself romantically linked with a weaponized Android; but the galaxy seems to be against them. Gray has also written Ties to the Star Wars universe, beginning with Star Wars: Return of the Jedi: Bloodline (2016). [JC]
