(1981- ) Swedish-born translator and author, in South Korea from early childhood; active from around 2018 as a translator, most usually from Korean to English. He is of sf interest for his first novel, Toward Eternity (2024), a tale constructed as a series of variously authored notebooks beginning in the Near Future, the first contributor to the sequence being Yonghun, a cancer patient whose cells have been completely replaced through Nanotechnology, and who is now known as Patient One. Yonghun has created an AI named Panit, whose consciousness – estranged in human terms – is translated into an Android body. Panit's constrained consciousness has evoked comparisons with the pre-fixed range of awareness of the protagonist of Kazuo Ishiguro's Klara and the Sun (2021). By novel's end, however, contrastingly, it is humans, now known as Redundants, who are superseded. [JC]
