(?   -    ) UK amateur musician and artist whose sole release, Galactic Nightmare (1986) is a concept album about a passenger "starliner" (see Starship) which crash-lands on the planet Zeon. After being attacked by an Alien Monster, the survivors meet a man who has aged prematurely after being captured by a race called The Immortals, who use the cells from other races to create their anti-aging serum. With the aid of an Immortal who opposes this practice, the invaders are defeated and sent back to their home planet; but a final twist reveals their plans to resume hostilities, including an Invasion of Earth. Though the concept was clearly inspired by the likes of Emerson Lake and Palmer and Jeff Wayne (and borrowing the tune of Kraftwerk's "Neon Lights" for the "Old and Grey" sequence), the energetic synth-led songs are very 1980s-sounding. As well as playing all the instruments and narrating, Jefferson also created the spirited artwork for the album. Originally released as a mail-order-only cassette, it was given a full release only in 2015, when this kind of home-made electronica had become fashionable. [CWa]
