(? - ) US author whose first novel, The Space Between Worlds (2020), is set mainly on Earth Zero, with which 380 Parallel Worlds interact complexly, generating a full Multiverse (see Communication). A central "Institute" controls those humans who can travel to those worlds, only possible where the traveller's Doppelganger in the new world is dead. The protagonist Cara, a huge number of whose semblances are dead, travels widely, and discovers engines of explanation for her precarious survival out of the great throng of dead Caras. The Space Between Worlds won a Compton Crook/Stephen Tall Memorial Award as best debut novel. [JC]
