Pseudonym of Donna Lanier (? - ), US author – perhaps the first – of romance sf conceived as a subgenre, most prominently the Matrix of Destiny series beginning with Knight of a Trillion Stars (1995), about the complicated romantic entanglement of a human woman and an Alien visitor. A standalone novel, Ritual of Proof (2001), has been described as Feminist, though the focus of this interplanetary romance seems to be on role reversal. [JC/SH]
