(1936- ) US actor – primarily know for his role as Ensign Chekov in the original 1960s Star Trek Television series – and author; his sf novel, Buck Alice and the Actor-Robot (1988), perhaps rather confusedly replicates the gonzo surrealism of an author like Kurt Vonnegut in its depiction of a Ruined Earth after its devastation by Aliens and populated solely by demented figures out of Earth's past: an actor convinced he is the Robot he once played on television; presidential aspirants; etc. Chekov's Enterprise: A Personal Journal of the Making of Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1980) is nonfiction.
